You now need to be a logged in member to rate games.

Sounds like a winner.

Any chance of having the pages have a "Log In/Register" option at the top of each game's page?

I'll see if I can fit it in with the theme, however you should be staying logged in so there shouldn't be any need to login again. I think the only times I ever have to login are if I purposefully log out to test something.

Good call, Orrin.Smile

Hopefully this will work as a counteract to the downgrading nuisance.

I've noticed that there has been two different bursts of what looked like negative proxy votes in the last week.

They didn't seem to be directed against my Mud, although we've been getting our fair share of downgrading too, as have several other games.

This should at least put a stop to the proxy spam.

I've noticed 1-2 new one-star votes on my game most days for the past couple weeks. It seemed to me that it was targetting the MUDs in the Top 10, except for one of them…

It is a shame this was necessary, but with the amount of downvoting going on it is definitely understandable. In the last few weeks, there were numerous times where Threshold was hit with 30-50 one star votes in a period of a couple hours.

Orrin: Thanks for keeping an eye on this stuff and working to continually improve the site.

My own mud gets downgraded with around 5-10 negative votes on a daily basis.

The same thing seems to happen to GodWars II.

I'm pretty certain where all those negative votes come from.

And quality has got nothing to do with it.

As far as I can see my mud doesn't get downvoted all the time – it's only when its rating increases beyond a certain threshold that it gets knocked back down, then it slowly creeps up the ratings again.  Rince and repeat.

It doesn't bother me so much after the other changes Orrin has made though, because negative votes are still votes as far as the most popular list is concerned, and that is now the more prominant list.

I sense a peculiar double meaning on that last word…

Yes, I caught that, too. I'm sure most people did/will.

Good to see that the vote downs still haven't stopped, though… </sarcasm>

Considering Threshold has probably received more downvotes than any other game on the list, I'd hope that was a coincidence rather than a personally motivated accusation. I haven't seen any other game go from #1 to completely off the list in a span of hours due to bursts of downvoting.

Or perhaps someone decided to mass downvote the downvoters…

Indeed, Fizban. Indeed. Also, isn't it nice when someone can play the victim AND have the damage undone? It's like having your cake and eating it, too.
