A Brief Introduction:

The Two Towers Mud is a free Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game set entirely within Tolkien's world of Middle-Earth. We have extensively re-created the lands of Middle-Earth in a rich text environment, from Mithlond to Mordor and the lands of Harad beyond. With a huge wilderness of approximately 80,000 rooms and approximately 12,000 unique rooms in towns and quest areas, the extensive lands of Middle Earth are always growing. The Two Towers Mud is a richly developed and highly interactive world. There are literally hundreds of quests, with rewards great and small, for you to discover.

The Two Towers has an active community of players from around the world who come together to play online. Players join together to create clans and guilds, raid enemy lands, socialize, and more. Roleplaying is encouraged and player-killing is restricted, but allowed.

Online continuously since 1994, The Two Towers is one of the longest running multiplayer games on the internet and is maintained by a staff of hardworking volunteers who love Tolkien and multiplayer gaming.

* Innovative Features and New Developments!

    — Great Helper System

        ~ We have an excellent group of Helpers who assist new players in choosing appropriate names and who explain how in-game systems work.

        ~ The diversity of our Helpers in how they help new players makes finding the best helper for you much easier. Our Helpers prefer doing their primary helping through tells, roleplaying, over the newbiecomm, and in character to character situations.

    — Facebook Integration

        ~ That’s right, now premiering on Facebook is The Two Towers LP Mud game and The Two Towers Mud group. The Two Towers Facebook application has in-game settings to turn wall posts on and off while on the Facebook client and the webclient at http://t2tmud.org/client.

        ~ Wall posts are created for important character events, such as gaining a new level or completing a set of quests

        ~ The Facebook application for muds is a new inventive way for text based roleplaying games to get their foot back in the door since the takeover of point and click graphical Facebook games.

    — Other new features to the mud include, but are not limited to:

        ~ Sparring system, a currently in-game feature that allows players to experience mutual combat outside of the lawsys system without the threat of dying (great for roleplaying situations).

        ~ Overhead Map to help all players explore and find their way when lost.

        ~ Enhanced quest areas such as the recently released inner district of Pelargir.

        ~ PvP Arena – which will offer a betting system for player versus player combat

        ~ New areas in the works that are both thematic and structurally sound

    — We are looking for fresh mudders who wish to explore our realms! People who are looking to immerse themselves in Middle Earth through questing, exploring, roleplaying, socializing, gearing, and more! We welcome one and all to start off in the lands of Middle Earth, both on the Free Race side in West Arda and on the more challenging Evil Race side in Far Harad.
