I guess that I'm a bit late in saying hello…
These days I use the name Mabonfolde, though some might recall Rhubenio. I don't remember when exactly I became involved in MUDs, but somewhere back in the early 90's I'd guess. I began as a player on Harshlands, and stepped up to direct the game when the founder left a year later. I've grown up with RPIMUDs.
After directing HL for a couple of years I founded and directed Forever's End MUD (FEM) for awhile. I've since been involved with a few projects that never made it to the public due to lack of effort on the part of the people I'd paired up with. In a whole, the RPIMUD community was, IMHO, in something of a slump so I founded the RPIMUD Network, RPIMUD.com, in an effort to revive the sense of community between the various RPIs. When I passed the site on to a committee to run, it had quite a few members (1500 registered +-), though the bulk of them were quiet lurkers. The site has been down for a little while as the committee revamps it, but I believe it'll be reborn before too long now if they stick with their current timeframe.
I've done a lot of web sites for various MUDs over the years, most of which have come and gone, but the last time I checked SlothMUD III was still using my design, as was the Minas Morgul side of Shadows of Isildur. In addition, anyone who has stopped by The Binary Forge or Maiden Desmodus websites has seen some of my more recent designs.
I'm currently partnered up with Orrin, the admin here, and working on Maiden Desmodus. With my background bringing strong role-play elements to MD, my focus is on in-depth world building and story development. Orrin's code is top-notch, and I think we've got a game in the works that is the perfect hybrid of RPI and PvP. I hope that you all check it out when we open things up to the public.
At any rate, I'm officially here now and will keep an eye on the forums. :)
